Small alliance on the continent
An international alliance is acting more and more dynamically pursuing practically its all plans. The Visegrad Group helds regular summit meetings , often with other partners, showing its unity in the whole Europe. There are new ideas to extend the activity of the 4 -party agreement by safety and defence issues.
The Visegrad Group (Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary) has held regular meetings for 2 months dedicated to various issues, among others intercontinental cooperation, including South Korea and aspirations to invest in new technologies. Leading topics also included decarbonation and involvement in climate changes. The last issue is especially important due to the strategic NATO and EU objectives, striving for strengthening pro-environment policy.
Trade issues are also important, the cooperation in this field is so strong that the Visegrad countries are becoming main exporters – importers for one another (at least in top 5). It is vital for strengthening the potential of the group in the context of addressing the economic crises and dangers resulting from the pandemic downtimes. What is important, joint GDP will grow because the group members still want to invest jointly, what they announced in last meetings.
As far as control of borders is concerned, the migrant crisis has a dominating significance here. The V4 has risen to the occasion also in this field. Each member has opted for reinforcing the Polish-Belarussian border and expressed the support for holding back the inflow of migrants. Moreover, the whole group jointly underlines the need to impose as big as possible sanctions on A. Lukashenko, which would stop him from further attempt to use the so called demographic/hybrid weapon (i.e. using migrants to weaken another country).
The V4 Group is growing stronger in every way. It is very good news for Poland, next meetings should be held as regularly as for the last 2 months. It is also good that the Polish politicians raise on the agenda the problem of threats for Poland. Recent events in particular have proved that raising the issue and calling for solidarity turns out to be a success. Perhaps, the Visegrad Group is booming, which we cannot neglect.
