Belarus bans import of agri-food products

From 1st January , 2022 Belarus is imposing a ban on imports of a series of foodstuffs from selected countries including Poland, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has informed. The ban is to be in force for 6 months.
“On 1st January 2022 Belarus imposes a ban on import of a series of agri-food products from selected countries, including Poland” we can read in the statement”.
The ban, which is to be in force for 6 months will include the following goods: beef and pork meat, poultry meat and products, giblets, fats, sausages, salted, smoked and dried meat, meat meal, milk and dairy products, vegetables, fruit, nuts, confectionery, salt.
Several products have been exempted from the import ban – these are product that have been imported before the commencement date, i.e. goods for personal use, children food and many other products of the so called “critical import”. Belarus will allow for the procedure of quotas for embargo goods if they are needed on the Belarussian market. At the same time, Belarus reserves the right to extend the list of goods to be banned from import.
The ban of import will be imposed on the goods originating from the EU member states, the USA, Canada, Norway, Albania, Iceland, North Macedonia, Great Britain, Montenegro and Switzerland.
