Lithuania announces to support Poland in delivery of gas



If Poland needs gas, it will flow to Poland – announced the Lithuanian minster of energy Dainius Kreivys in response to the Russian Gazprom, which completely stopped delivery of gas to Poland and Bulgaria.


The Minister reminded that soon a new gas pipeline from Norway – Baltic Pipe will be launched, and on the 1st May the Polish-Lithuanian pipeline GIPL will also start commercial operation.

In the beginning of April, Lithuania made a decision to completely resign from import of the Russian gas. The entire country gas demand is satisfied by the liquefied natural gas terminal (LNG) in Klaipeda.


-Thanks to our efforts, as of autumn, Poland will not need the Russian gas – announced Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in Sejm, commenting on the decision of Gazprom to stop delivering gas to our country. – It is a direct attack on Poland – he said.


The Prime Minister underlined that Polish authorities “had been preparing for such situation for many years”.
