Poland and Slovakia want Ukraine in UE

Presidents of Poland and Slovakia Andrzej Duda and Zuzana Čaputová announced in Bratislava that thy will conduct a series of visits in order to convince Western European leaders to grant Ukraine a EU membership candidate status

The idea to granting Ukraine a status of EU candidate membership is very important. I’ve accepted the proposal of the President Zuzana Čaputová to take up a specific mission of lobbying for Ukraine amidst our colleagues in the EU states in Western Europe, especially in those countries where there are doubts whether Ukraine should obtain this status promptly” informed the Polish President at the press conference in the capital of Slovakia.” We have no doubts that Ukraine should obtain this status as soon as possible “ he emphasised after the discussions with Čaputová

Andrzej Duda underlined that “ in Poland, the attitude to the war unleashed by Russia in Ukraine is absolutely univocal”.

Everybody knows that we need to help the Ukrainians, who flee from death, war and rape. We have no doubts that Ukraine needs to be supported in all possible ways, that’s why we support it humanely and militarily so that they could defend their country most effectively. Ukraine defends also Europe, primarily our part of Europe, against imperial actions of Russia – stated the President.

According to UNO’S data, more than 5.89 million people in total have left Ukraine since 24 February. The office of the High Commissioner for refugees forecasts that soon there will be even up to 6.5 or even 7 million refugees from Ukraine on the territory of Ukraine. (info.euroactiv.pl)
