Panel of the Three Seas Presidents

In the Three Seas House in Davos there was held a discussion including Presidents of Poland - Andrzej Duda, Latvia - Egils Levits and Estonia - Alar Karis. The audience included President of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic.

President Andrzej Duda emphasised that initially, a number of factors counted in the three Seas Initiative: transport, energy and tourism. He underlined that at present, in the face of the Russian aggression against Ukraine “on such a large scale”, cooperation within this Initiative counts even more, with the issue of energy in terms of security being at the top of lists of topics.

-In a few weeks there will be held the summit in Riga, I think it is a very important moment when we can talk about accelerating our cooperation in this regard – he pointed.

The President underlined that it is utterly important for all the Three Seas Initiative states to maintain connections between its countries.

We’ve been talking about these connections for year – for tourism or business reasons, and at present we have only one important issue – it is security. -At the time of the war in Ukraine, security is the key subject. If we think of the Three Seas Initiative , we have in mind energy security, we think of gas and oil supplies to our part of Europe, and this achievement, I mean the interconnectors between Poland and Lithuania, between Poland and Slovakia, Poland and the Check Republic, connections between the terminal on the Krk island and the Polish gas terminal in Świnoujście – all these connections are very important for our security – evaluated Andrzej Duda.

After the discussion, there was held a ceremony during which President Andrzej Duda awarded the former President of Croatia Kolinde Grabar-Kitarovic with the Order of the White Eagle for her merits for the Republic of Poland in developing Polish-Croatian cooperation in the field of energy security (info:prezydent.pl)
