The debate attended by representatives from regions and respective ministries of the Three Seas countries, who will discuss - from their individual perspectives - present and future roles of regions in economic development of the Three Seas area. Socio-economic transformations occurring throughout Europe indicate the need for undertaking comprehensive actions aiming to ensure sustainable and responsible growth. Development of regions is not feasible without economic development based on establishment of new international networks. The next step in the expansion of the Three Seas Initiative shall be intensification of interregional economic cooperation.

The Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund is to serve as an investment vehicle mobilizing the capital to invest in key transport, energy and digital infrastructure in countries located between the Baltic Sea, Adriatic Sea and Black Sea. Projects subject to financing will be of cross-border and transnational nature, and financing from the Fund shall be complementary to financing from public and European resources - as both complement and reinforcement. During the debate various instruments for financing of cross-border, interregional and transnational cooperation in Three Seas area shall be focused on, including EU funds.

Ensuring energy security requires diversification of energy sources, energy materials and methods of generation and distribution of energy. In the short term this is about directions and suppliers of natural gas, increasing gas storage capacity, and ensuring the stability of energy system in the context of increasing generation of energy from renewable sources (RES). The project that supports this priority is "North-South Gas Corridor" connecting LNG terminal in Świnoujście and Adria LNG terminal in Croatia, via southern Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.

COVID-19 pandemic has impacted every single area of our life – from education to work and leisure. Guests of the debate will discuss the extent to which the pandemic has boosted the digitisation process in the Three Seas Initiative’s region and whether the increased pace will remain a constant trend or require active maintenance. In the latter case, what are the ways of effectively initiating further digitisation of economies? The panel will also serve as an opportunity to talk about challenges – e.g. in scope of Recovery Fund and individual national recovery plans – such as building the 5G network, assuring cybersecurity across the region, providing chances for fair competition amongst entrepreneurs, developing start-ups and financing research, i.e. in regard to building the next network generation - 6G.
