Polish companies the strongest in Central and Eastern Europe



Poland leads in the Coface TOP 500 CEE ranking and Polish companies were the best in the region in terms of the annual turnover. The Czech Republic and Hungary also ranked high.


Coface is an international credit insurance provider and the strongest business investigation group in the Central and Eastern Europe. The TOP 500 CEE ranking has gained recognition of business and media who present this list willingly. Also, companies present on the list appreciate the importance of this distinction informing business environment about it. TOP 500 CEE presents leading companies of Central and Eastern Europe by turnovers reached in 2020.

According to the ranking, 32% of all the companies on the list come from our country (161 enterprises – 2 companies less than last year). “Despite the fact that the pandemic had an impact on Polish businesses, they are still the biggest in the region – with annual turnovers on the level of 1.6 billion euro “ Their total income decreased by 0.1% to 258.2 billion euro in 2020 and net profit decreased by 20.6%.

Poland is the most diversified state in the ranking in terms of sector structure. There is no single dominant sector, although the sector of mineral resources, chemicals, oil-related products, plastics and pharmaceutical products hold the field ( 16.8% of companies with 21.6% of turnover of Polish companies represent these sectors).

The first in the latest TOP 500 list is PKN ORLEN – the turnovers of the company decreased by 23% while last year they increased by 1%.The Czech Skoda Auto was second on the list and Jeronimo Martins the third one on the podium thanks to increase of turnovers.
